Ali Salman (CEO)
Ali is an economist by training and author of “Discord between Social Justice and Economic Freedom in Islam”. He is a founding member of Istanbul Network for Liberty. He is also the founder of Policy Research Institute of Market Economy (PRIME) – Pakistan’s leading free market think tank. Earlier, he has worked as a consultant and trainer for major international development organizations, public sector organizations and non-profits; worked in the government, academia and private sector. He has held a Fulbright scholarship, Royal Netherlands Fellowship and Charles Wallace Fellowship and has master degrees in Economics, Public Policy and Business Administration. He writes fortnightly for Express Tribune, a partner publication of International Herald Tribune/New York Times.
Hakan Şahin (Programme Officer)
Lecturer, Istanbul Medipol University
Hakan Şahin is an independent researcher and a think-tanker. He studied Computer Engineering at Gebze Institute of Technology (GIT) and Theology at Istanbul University. He completed his MA on Business Administration. He is now pursuing a PhD on Islamic Economics & Finance with a thesis titled “Money Production in terms of Economics and Islamic Law”. Şahin worked as General Secretary at certain CSO’s and as project manager and communications systems manager at various private companies. He lectures and publishes on Islam and free market economy; natural rights, civil society, as well as the history of money and banking and runs related seminars in Association for Liberal Thinking, Turkey.
